Throne Of Glass Review (spoilers may be present)
I read this book on shear recommendation from my nerdy and awesome bookish girlfriend, I had the general idea of plot but it didn't wow me to start with.
Plot: From Goodreads.com
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom...
General Thoughts:
I fell in love with the magic system of the Wyrdmarks and the fae, and the many motley characters that we met along the way. I knew the ending from the beginning because there was sequels including Celaena; however I loved the story all the same.
Characters:
All of the characters grew with an excellent source of speed and creation of relationships that were some of the best friends and love story arcs I have ever read.
Celaena- Strong main character, she is an assassin of the land and is chosen to compete for the Kings Champion. If she were to win the competition she would be pardoned of her sins, however this leverage the King has on her does not stop her from being as snarky as ever :)
Chaol- The Captain of the Guards who is charged with keeping an eye on her and training her for the competitions. Tall, Misterious, Handsome.
Dorian- The Crown Prince of the realm, who has chosen to have Celaena fight as his Champion in the competitions in the coming weeks against the many other criminals.
This Book At A Glance:
Recommendation: I recommend this almost at the high esteem as I do The Final Empire, yet it is unfair to compare them however this is a FUN, and INTRIGUING fantasy that deserves a read.
